WOMEN WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE Melissa Kwee: "Pay it Forward" Ms Melissa Kwee calls herself an educator, activist and advocate. She knew from a young age that she was meant to do something bigger in life that made a real difference to other people. The result was Kwee's conceptualization of Halogen Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to influence young people through training and development. Melissa strongly believes in making specific contributions that have tangible outcomes, which she can personally be involved in developing. "I don't believe in putting money in a box. I want to challenge young people to awaken and make choices-they should not feel like a victim of circumstances," said Kwee. Melissa has also set up a leadership programme for troubled teenage girls to learn skills to develop their personal and professional potential. "Inspiration is the first step to change. The young need to make life affirming choices, "says Kwee." Listen to other Inspiring Women |
