Nadya Hutagalung: "Stand up for Yourself"

Nadya Hutagalung is popularly known in the region as a model and former MTV VJ.

But the pretty-faced talent has been through tough times. She went through a number of abusive relationships, only to emerge a stronger and renewed individual, who now is an advocate for abused women.

"If somebody can raise their voice or use foul language against you, the chances are, they can raise their fists," says Nadya, who now supports and speaks to women who have been abused.

She says one needs to know when to stand up and not tolerate being abused.

Her passion for life has given her the drive to offer help where and when it is needed. She divides whatever free time she has between championing the preservation of endangered species, painting for charitable art exhibitions, volunteering and fundraising.

"The greatest thing that I have learnt is that everybody deserves to be loved and nobody needs to put up with this," says Nadya.
